Obituary

Mystic – Mrs. Margaret E. Harvey, formerly of Waterbury and New Haven, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Willis (Bill) Harvey who preceded her in death in 1969.

Margaret was born in Glasgow, Scotland on October 26, 1917 – daughter of the late Peter Emerson and Elizabeth McQuade Emerson. She was a lifelong resident of Waterbury, arriving in this country from Glasgow with her parents and her sister, Elizabeth in 1927. They joined the rest of the McQuade Family and established their roots for years in Waterbury.

Margaret graduated from Scared Heart High School in 1935 where she was affectionately known as "Scotty". She worked at the "Clock Shop" – which is now Timex Corporation. In August, 1941, she married Willis (Bill) Harvey and settled in the East End of Waterbury raising their three daughters.
She also was employed as a nanny for a private family and had the opportunity to assist in raising another family of three sons and one daughter which gave her great joy.

During her life, Margaret (Grandma/Nana) was actively involved in all her children's and grandchildren's lives along with their friends imparting her wisdom, love, understanding and her joy of travel, good parties and just fun times.

The family was life-long members of Saints Peter and Paul Church until Margaret's retirement when she moved to New Haven in 1989.

A devoted mother, Margaret "McGee", leaves her children, Patricia Harvey of Mystic, Margaret Roberts of Eagle, CO and Allison Ericson with her husband, Neal of Londonderry, NH; grandchildren Robert Daddona, Jr, Peter Daddona, Kerry Roberts Roach, Stephanie Roberts and Eric Roberts and his wife Ashley; Jena Palisoul, Marissa Palisoul Humphrey and her husband Harl; Bethany Nazzaro and her husband Kevin and 6 great grandchildren – Luca Daddona, Hunter and Logan Roach, Avery Humphrey and Julia and James Nazzaro along with three nieces and great grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her sister, Elizabeth Sweeney and her husband Irv and her nephew, Douglas Sweeney.

Friends may call at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury on Friday morning from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 A.M. at Saints Peter and Paul Church Southmayd Road, Waterbury. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Center for Hospice Care, 227 Dunham Street, Norwich, CT  06360.
