Waterbury- Mrs. Marion (Cousey) McGrath, 82, died peacefully Thursday, January 6, at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the widow of John F. McGrath, Sr.
Mrs. McGrath was born October 21, 1928 in Waterbury daughter of the late Vincent J. and Katherine (Sullivan) Cousey. She had retired from St. Mary's Hospital where she was the mail room supervisor. She was a long time member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church Ladies Guild, serving as president for nearly twenty terms. She was active in numerous Catholic organizations, for which she was recognized with the St. Joseph the Worker Award from the Arch-Diocese of Hartford. She was a founding member of the St. Declan's Society at St. Patrick's and the Church of the Epiphany in Cheshire. She was much loved by all who knew her.
Mrs. McGrath is survived by two sons, John F. McGrath, Jr of Takoma Park, MD and Michael V. McGrath and his wife Karen of Oakville; three daughters, Patricia M. McGrath and her husband Kevin McDonough of Lockport, NY, Kathleen E. McGrath and her husband Daniel Fitts of Haverhill, MA and Mary Beth McGrath of New Fairfield; two sisters, Catherine J. Levine and her husband Paul of Mattapoisett, MA and Patricia A. Fusco of Columbus, OH; eleven grandchildren, Adam Cates, Tracy Caligiuri, Sarah, Sean, Caroline and Aidan McDonough, John, Timothy and Cornelia Fitts, Ronald and Elizabeth Sudol; five great grandchildren, Zachary and Tyler Cates, Jake Bianca, Hailey and Julia Caligiuri and several nieces and nephews.
Her family thanks Dr. Edmund Quinn, Father John Williams and the staff at St. Mary's CICU, especially Joe and Katie.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 10, at 9:15 A.M. from the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main to St. Patrick's Church for mass of Christian burial at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 9, from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
