Waterbury - Mary A. Gorman-Benson, 80, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at the Summit in Plantsville. She was the widow of the late Ernest Benson. Mary was born on February 29, 1940 in Waterbury, daughter of the late James and Katherine (Kearney) Gorman. Mary was proud of her Irish Heritage. She enjoyed Irish tea, Irish music and some of her fondest memories was her trip to Ireland. She was an avid reader and loved history. Jeopardy was one of her favorite shows. She knew every answer. Her ability to absorb information was impressive. She raised her children around music, movies, books and a love for travel and architecture. Mary is survived by her six children, Tim Nonamaker and his wife Dina, Aaron Semrow and his wife Kristina, David Semrow and his wife Sara, Catherine Hinchcliffe and her husband John,  Jeremiah Nonamaker and his wife Annaly and Maria Nonamaker; as well as her 10 grandchildren, Danielle, Taylor, Julia, Deanna, Stephanie, Ryan, Jacob, Hannah, Shawn, and Noah. She was predeceased by her brothers, James and Johnny Gorman. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter and Paul Church (Mary, Mother of the Church Parish), 67 Southmayd Rd, Waterbury. Burial will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours.
