Waterbury- Mrs. Mary Louise (Phelan) Bergin, 86, died Wednesday, July 24, at St. Mary's Hospital.
Mary Louise was born April 30, 1927 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Anne Louise (McNamara) Phelan. Raised in Waterbury she was a graduate of St. Margaret's Grammar School, Waterbury Catholic High School and the former Annhurst College in South Woodstock, CT. She was a school teacher for the City of Waterbury for many years, she had taught at Webster School and Walsh School and retired in 1990. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church.
She is survived by four sons, David J. Bergin, Joseph P. Bergin, Thomas P. Bergin and John E. Bergin all of Waterbury; one daughter, Suzanne E. DeBiase of Waterbury; two sisters, Jeanne A. Phelan of Waterbury and Joan F. Anderson of Pittsfield, MA and two grandchildren, Joshua and Nicholas Bergin. She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph T., William J. and John E. Phelan and one sister, Anne Louise Phelan.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27, at 9:00 A.M. from the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury to Blessed Sacrament Church for Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
