Watertown – Mrs. Medelise L. (Dzinsky) Jackson, 91, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Robert A. Jackson.
Mrs. Jackson was born March 4, 1926 in Waterbury, daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Corcoran) Dzinsky. Raised in Waterbury she was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy and Crosby High School. She received her Bachelor's Degree from St. Elizabeth College in Convent Station, NJ and her Master's Degree from Central Connecticut State University. She had been an elementary school teacher for the City of Waterbury for many years.
She was a long time member of the Watertown Tennis Club, the Watertown Garden Club and enjoyed playing bridge. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Robert A. Jackson and his wife Cynthia of Greensburg, PA and Frederick W. Jackson and his wife Mary of Harwich, MA; two daughters, Kimberly J. MacLeod and her husband Peter of Gloucester, MA and Laurie E. Jackson of Waterbury; her sister, Doris Dzinsky a lifelong Waterbury resident, now living in Naugatuck; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren two nieces and three nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Frances Downs.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 28, from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 29, at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Watertown. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery in Waterbury.
