Waterbury- Mrs. Mercedes Doña "Dora" Lopez, 80, died Saturday, April 3, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Juan Sanabria.
Mrs. Lopez was born May 20, 1929 in Utuado, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Miguel and Matilda Maldonado Lopez. She has been a resident of Waterbury for 37 years and enjoyed wrestling, bingo, word search puzzles and Spanish soap operas. She will be remembered as a loving and caring daughter, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Mrs. Zoraida Lopez, Ms Milagros Sanabria, Daniel Sanabria, Angel Sanabria, Carlos Sanabria, all of Waterbury, Juan M. Sanabria of Wolcott, Mrs. Matilde Castro, Miguel A. Sanabria both of Waterbury; three brothers, Juan, Claudio and Carlos Lopez all of Puerto Rico; four sisters, Luz M. Lopez of Puerto Rico, Maria Teresa Lopez of Puerto Rico, Angelina Perez of NJ and Delia Iris Lopez of Waterbury; 22 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Pedro Sanabria and one brother and two sisters.
Arrangements: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, April 8, at 9:00 A.M. at Scared Heart Sagrado Corazon Church. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 7, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. The prayer of the Rosary will be held at Mrs. Lopez's home for 7 days from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. starting on Thursday evening.
