Waterbury- Mr. Miguel A. "Mickey" Perez, Jr., 62, died Monday, August 17, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Perez was born March 16, 1947 in Guayanillia, Puerto Rico, son of the late Miguel A. Perez, Sr and Ada J. Soden. Mr. Perez had served honorably in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam. His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Pistol Expert Badge, Combat Action Ribbon and the Rifle Expert Badge. Upon leaving the Marine Corps he attended and received an Associate Degree from Mattatuck Community College and retired from the Department of Labor for the State of Connecticut. He was an active member of many military organizations including the VFW Brooklyn Valley post # 7790.
He is survived by one sister, Ada Escobales of Waterbury; one nephew, Alfred Febbriello and his wife Kimberly; one niece Anita Escobales; three great nephews and one great niece.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, at 11:00 A.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. Burial with full military honors will follow in All Saints cemetery. Calling hours are Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 8;00 P.M. at the funeral home.
