WATERBURY — Monica (Delaney) Fahy, 87, died Sunday April 5th, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis M. Fahy, a Waterbury family businessman for over 50 years.
Monica was born July 21, 1921, in Waterbury, to the late James and Mary (Kelly) Delaney. Monica graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School and Saint Mary's School of Nursing Class of 1946.
Monica was devoted to her family and friends. She loved spending winters in Florida and summers in Madison. She was a member of the Waterbury Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf. Monica was devout in her faith with a positive attitude, beautiful smile and sparkling blue eyes. She was a member of SS Peter& Paul Church.
Monica is survived by two sons; Richard Fahy of Waterbury, Francis Fahy Jr. of Woodbury, three daughters, Kathleen Fahy of Waterbury, Nancy Ongley and Maureen Meier, both of Madison, one brother, Edward Delaney of Hobe Sound, Florida, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by three sisters and one brother, Mary (Mae) Deschenes, Irene, Margaret and Fred Delaney.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their care and kindness during her brief illness.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be Wednesday at 8:15 A.M. from the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East main St. to SS Peter & Paul Church for Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
