Waterbury – Nilda Torres, 73, of Waterbury, passed away on March 9, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital.
Nilda was born on October 21, 1942 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Jeronimo and Sara (Carmona) Torres. Nilda loved playing dominos, bingo, watching bowling and planting in her garden. She was a member of the Casa Bienverida senior program for a number of years. She was loved by many.
Nilda is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Flores, and Cynthia Flores, her husband Kareem Batts and her soon to be born two grandsons, Kobe and Karcyn Batts; two sisters, Rosa Vargas, and Carmen Gonzalez; two brothers, Anibal and Fernando Torres: her niece, Vanessa Riddick; and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Charlie Torres.
Family and friends may call on Sunday March 13, 2016 from 5:00. to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main St., Waterbury. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
