Waterbury – Mrs. Honorah "Nora" McMahon, 90, passed away on Tuesday August 20th 2013 at Torrington Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of the late George "Scottie" P. McMahon.
Mrs. McMahon was born December 25, 1922 in Pumpherston, Scotland, daughter of Patrick and Mary (Bonar) Eardley. After immigrating to the United States, Mrs. McMahon and her husband became members of the Sacred Heart Parish in Waterbury and she became a member of the Mother's Club. She participated in annual retreats at the Farmington Abbey and was a frequent visitor at the Lourdes Shrine in Litchfield CT. Later in life Mr. and Mrs. McMahon became communicants of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury.
Honorah enjoyed travel, knitting afghans for family members, crocheting, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. McMahon leaves her loving family including her daughter Mary C. McMahon (Spouse Todd Hallock) of Thomaston CT, her son John J. McMahon (spouse Margaret Nolan) of Keene N.H., and son Michael McMahon (spouse Nancy Owens) of Thomaston CT, her grandchildren Sheila McMahon, Megan Hall, Bridget McMahon, Kathleen McMahon-Brown, Ashley McMahon, James McMahon, Michaela McMahon and Patrick McMahon; great-grandchildren Grace and Charlotte Hall and Ellie and Abby Brown, and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care and consideration provided by Annabelle David and the staff of Torrington H&R.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Saturday August 24th at Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, West Main Street Waterbury. Entombment will follow in Calvary Garden Mausoleum. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury.
