Mr. Norberto O. Ortiz Sr.
Waterbury- Mr. Norberto O. Ortiz Sr., 60, of Wolcott St., died August 5, 2008 at Abbott Terrace after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.
Mr. Ortiz was born June 6, 1948, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, to the late Pedro and Francisca Ortiz. Mr. Ortiz earned a certificate from New England Tractor Trailer Training School was employed at Knapp Container in Beacon Falls as a driver until the time of his illness. He previously he attended St. Cecilia's Church. Norberto enjoyed listening to music, dancing, working on cars and cooking for his family gatherings.
He is survived by a son; Norberto Ortiz Jr. and his wife Ivette (Gutierrez ) of Waterbury, two daughters; Cristina Ortiz and Maria Ortiz all of Waterbury, former wife and close friend, Maritza Miranda of Meriden, four brothers; Victor Melendez Ortiz and Pedro Jose Ortiz of Puerto Rico, Julio Melendez Ortiz of FLA, Enrique Ortiz of West Virginia, four sisters; Blanca Iris Correa, Nilda Luz Ortiz, Nitza Margarita Perez all of Waterbury, Ana Delia Ortiz of Puerto Rico, six grandchildren, Stephanie and Eric Ortiz, Brianna Ramos, Ayanna Ross, Julian and Alex Martinez all of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Sara Ortiz Martinez of Waterbury.
Arrangements: A Funeral Mass will be directly at St. Margaret's Church at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 11, 2008. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Bergin Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
