Obituary

Waterbury- Mrs. Olivia Q. Jackson of Traverse St. died Tuesday, April 20, at her home with her family. She was the widow of Charles H. Jackson, Sr.

Mrs. Jackson was born July 9, 1927 in Montgomery, AL daughter of the late Gaston Williams and Jessie Mae Holt. A resident of Waterbury for many years, she had been a member of Grace Baptist Church for over 55 years and a former member of the Adult Choir. She was a member of the Mount Olive Senior Center and a former member of the N.P.C.B.W. (National Political Congress of Black Women). She was a retired senior companion volunteer and served on the advisory committee. She was a resident advocate for the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program.

She had worked as an inspector at the Uniroyal Rubber and Footwear plant and retired from the YWCA of Waterbury as a matron and sewing instructor. She was also a sewing instructor at the Woodrow Wilson Community School and was a partner in hope for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital fighting childhood cancer.

She is survived by two sons and a step son, Gaston D. (Earlene) Jackson of Dover. DE, Glenn E. Jackson of Naugatuck and Clarence H. Jackson, Jr of Montgomery, AL; one daughter and a step daughter, Pamela A. Jackson of Waterbury and Carolyn J. Johnson of Montgomery, AL and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements: A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 23, at 11:00 A.M. at the New Pine Grove Cemetery, Meriden Rd. Waterbury with the Rev. Larry C. Green officiating. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury.
