Obituary
Patricia Ann Bunce Stanley passed away on Sunday May 24, 2015 at her home after spending the day surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 21, 1939 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Edward and Margaret Bunce and lovingly raised by Henry and Katherine Baker. While she lived in Wolcott most of her adult life, she continued to think of herself as a Waterburyan and had wonderful memories of her childhood there.
Pat attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1957. She earned her nursing diploma in 1960 from Saint Mary's School of Nursing, working in Saint Mary's for over 39 years.
She is survived by her daughters Patricia Greene and her husband Martin Greene, of Waterbury, CT; Joan Dichele and her husband Jeffrey Dichele, of Mendon, Mass; and her son Paul, of Waterbury, CT. She leaves behind her longtime friend and companion Pamela Yukna of Wolcott with whom she made her home. She had lifetime friends, many from grammar, high school and nursing school, most especially Mary Ellen Griffin of Waterbury, CT with whom she shared the best of times and the worst of times. All these friends enriched and brightened her life in so many ways.
She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Katherine, Grace, Thomas, Paxton, Eli, Mary Rose and Caleb. Pat was predeceased by her parents, her son Michael and her granddaughter Jessica, as well as her beloved brother Robert Baker and her sisters Florence Shortt and Eleanor McWeeney.
Pat wanted to thank Dr. Henry Borkowski for his friendship over 37 years and his unwavering understanding and acceptance of her Irish temperament. The family would like to thank Dr. Borkowski and Dr. Blitzer of Saint Raphael's in New Haven for giving her the time to influence her grandchildren and watch them grow into wonderful human beings.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 29 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main St., Waterbury. The funeral mass will be held Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from Bergin Funeral Home, to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Sacred Heart High School, 142 S. Elm St., Waterbury, CT, with attention to Mrs. Regan, in Pat's memory.
