Middlebury – Patrick P. DeAngelis, 84, passed away in his home on Thursday evening, July 25. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen B. (Daly) DeAngelis.

Pat was born in Meriden on June 26, 1940, son of the late Pasquale and Eleanor (Dominello) DeAngelis. He often spoke fondly of memories growing up in Meriden in the 1940's and 1950's. He recalled long days of unsupervised pickup baseball games, riding his bike through the predominantly Italian west side of town with teems of friends, and seeking out various sorts of mischief wherever they may have been.

He was a voracious reader, with subject matter tastes that ranged from Roman antiquity to quantum physics. He enjoyed gardening, cooking a variety of cultural cuisines, bicycling and loved animals, having owned countless dogs throughout his life. There was nothing Pat cherished more than his family. He was a loyal and loving husband for 50 years to his wife Kathleen, and a beloved father to four sons, to whom he proudly referred to as "his boys."

Whereas his four sons were his pride, his four grandchildren were his joy. He reveled in the opportunity to share in their lives and marveled at the talented, intelligent, and compassionate young women and men that they have become. The bond that "grandpa" shared with each of his grandchildren was truly beautiful and will endure far beyond his passing.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his sons, Patrick P. DeAngelis and his wife Tonya of OR, Gennaro J. DeAngelis and his wife Candace of Coventry and Christopher P. DeAngelis of Naugatuck; one brother, Mark DeAngelis and his wife Maureen of Guilford; his sister-in-law, Marsha DeAngelis of CA, four grandchildren, Sophia, Rex, Dominic and Matteo and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Matthew A. DeAngelis and his brother, Dr. Gerald A. DeAngelis.

Funeral services will be private.
