Waterbury- Mr. Peter J. Pirog, 93, died Tuesday, November 18, at his home. He was the husband of Mary Ellen (True) Pirog.
Mr. Pirog was born October 24, 1921 in Bristol, son of the late Martin and Bernice (Dudek) Pirog. A veteran of World War II, he had served honorably and with distinction with the United States Coast Guard. He will be remembered for his love of hiking, cooking and being an avid golfer. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Maureen A. Pirog of Bloomington, IN; one sister, Helen Sarachun of Terryville; two grandchildren, Emily M. Good and Ian H. Good and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Catherine, Anthony, Carol, Joseph and Marie.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held today, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 9:45 A.M. from the funeral home to Saints Peter and Paul Church for mass of Christian burial at 10:30 A.M. Entombment with military honors will follow in Calvary Garden Mausoleum.
