Prospect- Mrs. Pina (Cosgrove) Shepard, 87, of Plank Rd., formerly of Manor Ave., Waterbury, died peacefully, Friday, February 15 at home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Robert M. Shepard.
Mrs. Shepard was born September 10, 1920 in Waterbury daughter of the late L. Joseph and Catherine (Wall) Cosgrove. Raised in Waterbury she was a graduate of Saints Peter and Paul Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School. Prior to her marriage she had worked at the American Brass Company and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Pina will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who always made her time available to help others when needed and wanted nothing but happiness for her children. The family would like to thank the staffs of Abbott Terrace, Elim Park, Wolcott View manor and Waterbury Hospital for the love and care they showed to Pina.
She is survived by two sons, Robert C. Shepard and his wife Mary of Prospect and Jeffrey C. Shepard and Janis Rowe of Waterbury; two daughters, Catherine "Penny" Pino and her husband Robert of Waterbury and Jan M. Shepard and Suzanne M. Card of Prospect; one sister, Doris (Cosgrove) Nutbrown of Cheshire; eight grandchildren, Ellen Shepard-Sanford, Scott McKay, Pina Shepard, Katie Pino, Nicholas Shepard, Holly Pino, Jaclyn Shepard, and Jeffrey Shepard and one great grandson, William R. Bryan. She was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia (Cosgrove) O'Neil and Joan (Cosgrove) Muthig.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning, February 19 at 9:30 A.M. form the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. to the Immaculate Conception Church for mass at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
