Obituary
Waterbury – Mr. Richard J. Canfield, Sr, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 12, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Carole E. (Adams) Canfield.
Mr. Canfield was born January 29, 1942 in Waterbury, son of the late Richard H. and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Canfield. Raised in Waterbury he attended local schools and was a graduate of Crosby High School, class of 1959. After high school he had served honorably in the United States Army. For over thirty years he had been employed by Connecticut Light and Power as a chief cable splicer, retiring in 1997.
Richard enjoyed spending his life constantly surrounded by family and friends. Always known as a person that could be relied upon on, he would go above and beyond the normal call of duty, rushing to help at a moment's notice without question or judgment. He leaves a close knit group of friends and many more acquaintances that will never forget him.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Richard J. Canfield, Jr; two daughters, Kelley Cavazzini and her husband Craig and Kristin Soricelli and her husband Chris and "like a daughter" Tion Michaud and her husband Andre; his sister-in-law, Beverly Boulanger and her husband Edward; six grandchildren, Alexa, Dominic, Heath, Alex, Maximus and Ryland; four nephews, Edward, Todd, Donald and Christopher and many close friends. He was predeceased by his son, Mark A. Canfield.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 14, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Friends are asked to meet at church. Burial will be held on Tuesday at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury at 10:00 A.M.
