Waterbury - Robert L. Fisher, 82, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016. He was the husband of the late Shirliean (Gandy) Fisher.
Mr. Fisher was born in Waterbury, CT, on February 15, 1934 to the late Leonard and Mildred (Churchill) Fisher. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Missouri, during the Korean War. He was married to Shirliean on September 17, 1960, to whom he is predeceased. Mr. Fisher worked as a printer for many years. He was also a Commander of the VFW. He coached both local youth baseball and basketball. He enjoyed the NY Giants and the Boston Red Sox, and enjoyed working in his yard and his garden. He also enjoyed attending his granddaughters sporting events.
Mr. Fisher is survived by his son, Robert F. Fisher, and his wife, Susan, of Terryville; and his two daughters, Lynn Fisher, of AL; and Karen Tucker, and her husband, William, of Waterbury; his sister, Joan Mancini, of Waterbury; his eight grandchildren, Steven, Joseph, Melissa, Kayla, Jennifer, Hayley, Michael, and Maya; his 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 16, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street, Waterbury. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 17 at 10 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins Street, Waterbury. Please meet directly at church. Full military honors will follow. Burial will be held privately.
