Waterbury – Mr. Robert W. Huckins, 88, passed away on Monday morning at Vitas Innovative Hospice at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary (Grady) Huckins. Bob was born February 7, 1931 in Waterbury, son of the late Robert G. and Erma (Walker) Huckins. Raised in Waterbury he attended local schools and was a graduate of Crosby High School. He started his career as a tool and die maker at Scovill Manufacturing and then went on to work for over thirty years as an industrial engineer at North American Philips Controls. He was a life member of the Waterbury Lodge of Elks, BPOE # 265, where he was a member of the bowling league and enjoyed playing cards. He enjoyed golf and softball and was an avid New Giants fan and Boston Red Sox fan. He is survived by two sons, Gary Huckins and his wife Marian and Randal Huckins and his husband, Jimmy Geary; two daughters, Debra Lanzo and Barbara Huckins and four grandchildren, Meghan Huckins, Kathleen Huckins, Michael Lanzo, Jr and Brittany Scully. He was predeceased by his daughter, Judith Huckins, his sister, Delmar Burdick and his great grandson, Dereck Brousseau Diogostine. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, at 12:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
