Obituary

Waterbury- Mr. Roberto Diaz, 66, died Sunday, October 25, at St. Mary's Hospital.

Mr. Diaz was born September 25, 1943 in New York, NY, son of the late Roberto and Candida (Diaz) Diaz. Raised in New York he attended local schools and then enlisted in the United States Army. He had served honorably in the Army from 1963 to 1969 including tours of duty in Vietnam, receiving the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam campaign Medal.

He had retired as a truck driver, driving for many companies including Smith Trucking and Bozzuto's IGA. He enjoyed the martial arts and tinkering with his inventions. He will be remembered as a devoted father and grandfather.

He is survived by one son, Peter Tirado and his wife Cheryl of Avon; one daughter Jacqueline Diaz of Oxford; four grandchildren, Christopher Gutierrez, Rebecca Tirado, Peter Tirado and Jordan Ciampi; his close friend Ruth Nardello and many cousins and relatives in New York.

Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 29, at 10:00 A.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. Burial will be private.
