WATERBURY — Roberto (Robbie) E. Velez Sr., 31, of Templeton St., died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 14, 2010.
Mr. Velez was born May 27, 1978, in Waterbury, son of Robert F. Velez and Carol Lynn (Burke).
Mr. Velez was employed by Whole Foods Market and Distribution. Robbie was dedicated to working and spending time with his children. He was a graduate from Crosby High School, class of 1996.
He is survived by two children; Roberto E. Velez Jr., Jalyssa Ann Velez and their mother Amber Amos all of Waterbury, his father Robert F. Velez and step-mother Maria E. Velez of Waterbury, his mother, Carol Lynn Burke and her companion Raymond VanNastrand of Terryville, Maternal grandparents Virginia Sacrisantano and husband Frank, Edward Burke and wife Elke. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Alex Gonzalez, Leslie Gonzalez, Madeline Gonzalez and their mother Angela Gonzalez all of Florida, a brother Jose Olivero of Waterbury, a sister who he adored and was there his entire life Rachel Velez Valentin and her husband Efrain of Meriden, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Miguel and Inez Velez.
Arrangements: Friends and family are asked to gather directly at Sacred Heart Sagrado Corazon Church, Friday for a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 A.M. Calling hours will be Thursday at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 E. Main St., Waterbury, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Burial will be Private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to benefit his children, and sent to any Webster Bank branch c/o Roberto Velez Children's Fund.
