Naugatuck- Mr. Ronald C. Cabral, Sr, 77, lifelong resident of Naugatuck, passed away on Sunday, September 6, due to a long illness.
Mr. Cabral was born April 10, 1938 in Waterbury, son of the late Joseph and Florence (Marino) Cabral. Ron was involved in and supported many local organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America Troop 102, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, was an avid swimmer and diver as well as a boxer in Joe Trianos Golden Gloves organization at the local Y.M.C.A. and had served as a tank commander in the National Guard. He had worked in many industries throughout the Naugatuck Valley including, The Bristol Company and Uniroyal until he found his ultimate calling as a licensed plumber. He brought much needed 24/7 service to many a Naugatuck resident.
Ron was most comfortable by the sea at his parent's cottage in Bristol, RI. He loved fishing, clamming and crabbing with his family and friends.
Ron is survived by three sons, Ronald Cabral, Jr of Morgan Hills, CA, Dean Cabral of Watertown and Jason Cabral of North Fort Myers, FL; one sister, Dolores Painter of Prospect; two brothers, Lawrence Cabral of Watertown and Joseph Cabral, Jr of Waterbury; seven grandchildren, Jay Cabral, Jr of Waterbury, Justin Cabral of Watertown, Dillon and Lane Cabral of N. Fort Myers, FL and Joshua, Jacob and Kaitlyn Cabral of CA and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 15, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 6:00 P.M., at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. Burial will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery in Bristol, RI.
