Waterbury – Rosaleen A Price, 93, retired history and English teacher and founding member of the ADK Educators' Sorority, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital Waterbury. She was born in Waterbury on March 2 1921, daughter of the late John and Anna (Noonan) Price and was a resident of Waterbury for most of her life.
She graduated from Park Road Elementary School, Waterbury Catholic High School, and the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown New Jersey (class of 1942). She taught high school for 35 years - first in Washington Connecticut for eight years and then at Wilby High School Waterbury for 27 years, retiring in 1978.
Rosaleen liked the ocean and, as a young child, she and her brother spent summers in Bay View (Milford) Connecticut. She enjoyed travelling with friends in Ireland, Europe, and around the United States. In her later years she went to North Carolina and Florida each year with her cousins and brother and especially liked driving around Southern New England. She was active in her sorority at both the state and local levels, loved cats, and supported various charities. Rosaleen was an excellent photographer, experimenting with various cameras and lenses and capturing both interesting vistas as well as important moments in the lives of her family and friends. Rosaleen's pictures always came out.
Rosaleen is survived by her brother, John Price III (Cape Coral Florida and Egremont Massachusetts), several cousins, neighbors, and friends – all of whom give a 'very special thank you' to Joan Fisher, Rosaleen's wonderful caregiver of three years.
