Prospect– Roy A. Cook of Summit Rd., 77, died peacefully early Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Masonicare Hospice Center in Wallingford. He was the husband of Sheila (Sheehan) Cook.
Roy was born in Waterbury to the late Roy and Elizabeth (Breheney) Cook on June 11, 1932. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and Central Connecticut State College. He served in the US Army in the Korean conflict and was awarded the bronze star. Roy's teaching career spanned thirty years at Kennedy High School. Roy truly loved his family, his home, his many dear friends his dogs and his special place, a home in Harwichport on the Cape.
In addition to his wife of forty-nine years he is survived by; son, Matthew B. Cook and his wife Lisa, and their daughter Caitlin of Harwinton; a daughter, Bridget Cook and her children Ryan Walsh of Naugatuck, Michael Caldarola and Britney Caldarola, of Waterbury; a son, Terry Cook and his wife Emily and their children, Julia, Hannah, Claire and Molly of Porter, TX; a brother in law, Matthew Callahan of Cheshire, a niece, Darlene Bourassa and nephew William Piknosh. Roy was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Piknosh and Elizabeth Maxwell.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 24 at 9:00 A.M. from the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street Waterbury, to arrive at St. Anthony's Church in Prospect for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, from 5:00P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
