Waterbury - Russell R. Overton, Sr., 83, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017. He was the husband of the late Esther (Brickett) Overton.

Russell was born in Waterbury, on May 20, 1934, to the late Parm and Edna (West) Overton. He was a parishioner of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Russell volunteered for the American Red Cross, and was a Boy Scouts of America Leader. He retired in 1999 from Fansteel where he worked as a machinist. Russell was an avid sun worshipper, a Red Sox fan, enjoyed country music and western movies, and collecting steins and various clocks. Russell was always busy and very active up until the end of 2016.

Russell is survived by his children, Katherine Hotchkiss, of Whitehall, NY; Karen Gelati, and her husband, Skip, of Thomaston; Rosemarie Warner, and her husband, Steven, of Wolcott; Russell R. Overton, Jr., who resided with and cared for him during his illness, and his wife, Dawn, of Oakville; and Marylou LaBrecque, and her husband, Eric, of Plymouth; his step children Michael Druan, of RI; and Cathy Hoffman, of Winstead; his siblings, Barbara Russell; and William Overton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially Leah, Mason, and Katie, whom grew up in his home; his Chihuahuas, Bootsie and BB; and extended family.

Including his wife and parents, Russell is predeceased by his siblings, Charlie Overton; Robert Overton; Eunice Macary; and Jackie Overton; his step children Patrick Druan, and Grace Drew; and his son in law, Al LeMay.

A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, July 5 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street, Waterbury. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 6 at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main Street, Waterbury. Meet directly at church. Burial will be held privately.
