Sonia was born on November 3, 1950 in Bronx, NY and moved to Waterbury with her family at six months old were she resided for the remainder of her life. Attending local schools, Sonia was a graduate of Wilby High School and was a pioneer in the development of the Head Start program in Waterbury. Sonia lived at 2 North Main St. for 33 years where she was known as the "go to person" for all senior residents regarding any and all social services and offering help to all of her neighbors.

Sonia's passions were her family and playing Thursday night bingo at Blessed Sacrament Parish where she often won. She was an active member at the First Congregational Church on West Main St. for 33 years, where she volunteered to feed the homeless and was a regular attendant at their Wednesday night bible study sessions. Sonia was also an avid walker, walking three miles per day around Waterbury. She will be truly missed by all that had the privilege to know her.

The family would like to thank all staff at VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary's Hospital, especially the nurses and nurses' aides for all of the loving care, and to Chaplain Kim for his spiritual guidance.
