Stephen James Morris; Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather & Uncle

Stephen James Morris, 71, passed away on September 24, 2026, following several years of lung problems and cancer. We would like to say a special thank you to his care teams at both New York Presbyterian Hospital as well as the Leever Center. He passed away on his 43rd wedding anniversary, a date that will forever hold special meaning for his family.

Born and raised in Warwickshire, England, Steve moved to Connecticut in 1982 to build a life and raise his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Lisbet; their children, Trevor and his wife Lynn, and Linnea and her husband Craig; and his adored grandchildren, Evelyn and Thomas. He also leaves behind his brother and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Steve loved sports throughout his life, playing many of them, but rugby was always his favorite. Billiards also became one of his favorite past times. He especially enjoyed watching rugby, soccer, and cricket matches on television.

He was also an avid gardener who took great pride in propagating and growing his own plants. In his later years, his faith and his church became an especially important part of his life. He was a devoted member of Christ Church Roxbury, where he served as Warden until his death.

Steve lived a life filled with family, adventure, curiosity, and a willingness to try something new. Among his many memorable experiences, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by riding in a P-51D Mustang. He described it as “the most incredible thing I have done”—though, in typical Steve fashion, he quickly added, “well, maybe not, when I think back.”

His life was filled with experiences he cherished: 43 years of marriage to Lisbet, raising two wonderful children, becoming a grandfather, acting at the Royal Shakespeare Company with Judi Dench, nearly becoming a glider pilot, and traveling to England, France, Sweden, Ireland, and beyond.

Steve was always the light of a room. He was fiercely loyal and loving, and the kind of person you could always depend on when help was needed. He gave generously of himself to his family, his friends, and his community, and his presence brought warmth, laughter, and a sense that everything would be okay.

Above all, Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will remain a lasting part of the lives he touched.

A memorial service and interment will take place on Monday, November 23, 2026 at 11am at Christ Church at 4 Weller's Bridge Rd, Roxbury, CT 06783.
