Mrs. Valtie Marie Thompson (Richards) passed away in the late evening of Monday, August 24, 2009.
Val was born May 17, 1954, in Waterbury, CT. She was the daughter to the late Arnold Richards and Louise Polletta (Nickerson). She was a graduate of Wilby H.S. and lived in Waterbury for most of her life. She was the owner of Val's Breakfast and Lunch, a luncheonette that was located on Baldwin Street in Waterbury. She loved to cook.She also loved trips to the casinos - she loved her slot machines. She loved spending time with her two dogs and resided in Nevada for the past nine years.
She is survived by her husband, John Thompson of Henderson, Nev., a daughter Monica McCarthy of New London, three sons, Brian McCarthy Jr. of Waterbury, Ken Breen and his wife Betsy, John Breen all are from Tennessee, two grandsons, Andrew and Michael Breen of Tennessee, three sisters, Nancy Tapley of Pennsylvania Deborah Ferrari and Sharon Boivin both of Waterbury, a brother, Leonard Polletta of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews. She was by two brothers, John Poletta and Peter Boyce and a sister Cynthia Saugeau. She was the former spouse of Joe Guarino.
