Waterbury – Ycelsa (Gonzalez) Diaz, 66, passed away on Sunday, February 28, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Rafael E. Diaz. Ycelsa was born April 8, 1954 in Santiago, Dominican Republic, daughter of the late Victor and Rena Gonzalez. For many years she was the owner of Sabor Latino Restaurant. She will be remembered for the wonderful meals she prepared on her favorite day, Sunday, which is when all her family would gather together at her home and eat, reminisce about old times and enjoy being together. She is survived by her children, Cesar, Maximo and Fantasia Diaz, all of Waterbury; her brothers, Epolito, Ricardo and Ramirez Gonzalez all of Waterbury; two sisters, Candida Gonzalez of Waterbury and Maria Gonzalez of the Domican Republic; her eight grandchildren, Keynalyn, Jesus, Maximo, Jr, Reina, Cesar, Isaac, Kasha and Genesis and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday morning at 11:30 A.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. A walk through visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
