Waterbury - Zoraida (Velez) Maldonado, 51, passed away on Saturday, December 26, at Apple Rehab Hewitt in Shelton. Zoraida was born May 5, 1969 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Anibal and Nereida (Planas) Velez. Zoraida loved to cook, travel and spend time with her family. She spent the last few years traveling to Las Vegas, Arizona and Mexico. She enjoyed sitting by beach where life was peaceful and calm. Zoraida will be deeply missed by her entire family. We love you, always. She is survived by one son, Julio Pagan, Jr; three daughters, Taicha Maldonado, Leslie Maldonado and Jennifer Pagan; three brothers, Jorge Velez, Jose Luis Velez and Jose Angel Velez; four grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 3, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. A prayer service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Burial will be private.
