November 14, 1934 ~ December 9, 2019 (age 85) 85 Years Old
Waterbury – Alexandria (Apostolakis) Caramavros, 85, of Waterbury, passed away Monday, December 09, 2019 peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late Triandafellos Caramavros.
Alexandria was born on November 14, 1934 in Kania Crete Greece, daughter of the late Haralambos and Helen Bedalakis Apostolakis. She participated in the resistance of Nazis occupied Crete. Alexandria Caramavros fought in post-World War II Revolution for the Greek Hellenic Army as they pushed the communist out of Greece. Greece was the only place in Central, Belken, and Eastern Europe where communism attempted, but failed to take power. She immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1957 and then to Connecticut in 1969 with her family. Her and her husband were in the pizza restaurant business. They owned Town Pizza Restaurants in Oakville and Ansonia CT.
Alexandria is survived by three children, Haralambos Karamavros, and his wife, Rosanne, George Karamavros, and Despina Karamavros; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Lauren, Elizabeth Karamavros, and Sabrina Machado; and two sisters, Maria Nikolithakis and Anastasia Apostolakis Kokkinis.
