America Arroyo, 90 years of age passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday morning November 10, 2017.

America was born on August 14, 1927, in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico. She was the loving daughter of the late Ramon and Jacobina Rodriguez and the widow of the late Antonio Arroyo, her husband of 39 years. She was a devoted wife and loving mother who touched the lives of all who knew her. She enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, tending to her gardens and the company of her friends and family.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters Neva Arroyo, Alba Vazquez and her husband Jacob, her son Otto Arroyo and his wife Silvia. Her brother Ramon Rodriguez and wife Elisa, sister Cruz Ramos and husband Radames, brother-in-law Heriberto Arroyo and wife Gloria along with a host of nieces and nephews. America was predeceased by her beloved son Edgar Arroyo and grandson Daniel. Her brothers Hector Rodriguez, Edelmiro Rodriguez and Jose Santiago. Sisters; Rosa Julia Rosado, Monserrate Gonzalez, and Leonilda Gonzalez.

America’s legacy to the world are her grandchildren. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren; AnnMarie, Javier Sr, Alexander, Adrian, Cristina, Jacob Jr, Liana, and Carlos. 13 great-grandchildren; Esteban, Javier Jr, Alexander, Alexandria, Emilia, Noah, Caleb, Madeline, Michaela, Anthony, Alexis, Stephanie, Alaina and 2 great-great grandchildren Christian and Isabella. America will always be remembered as the pillar of strength, love and light with a smile and laugh full of kindness that will never be forgotten.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday November 12, 2017 from 2-5pm at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street, Waterbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday November 13, 2017 at the Shrine of St. Anne, 515 S. Main St, Waterbury at 10 a.m.
