Mesa, AZ – Mr. Anthony Castigliego, Sr, 87, passed away on Monday, August 21, at the Center at Val Vista in Gilbert, AZ. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Buckley) Castigliego.
Tony was born May 2, 1936 in Bristol, RI, son of the late Nicholas and Anna Castigliego. He had been employed at Pratt & Whitney and then went on to a twenty three career as owner of Tony and Son’s Seafood in Oakville, retiring in 2005. He will be remembered for his love of seafood, taking pictures, golf, travel and how much he loved his winters at the family condo in Del Ray Beach, FL. Anthony’s relationship to the Abbey of Regina Laudis started with a call from the Abbey to Tony’s Sea Food to order fish, and grew over the next 20 years into a deep, enduring friendship as he gradually came to assist the community in countless ways. In 2008 he was formally recognized as an Oblate Brother of the Abbey for his fidelity in service to the Benedictine values of hospitality and his unparalleled generosity in helping wherever there was a need.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Castigliego, Jr; his grandson, Joseph Anthony Castigliego; his granddaughter, Charlene Marino; his brothers, Nicholas and Raymond Castigliego and his sister, Lois Castigliego-Ferreira, all of Bristol, RI. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his children, Lee Ann, Michael and Laura and his brother, Matteo Castigliego.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, August 30, at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesu Fili Mariae, at the Abbey of Regina Laudis, 15 Robert Leather Rd. Bethlehem 06751. A visitation will be held from 9:45 A.M. until time of Mass. Burial with military honors will follow in Lake Elise Cemetery, Middlebury.
