Waterbury – Catherine “Kitty” (Curtin) Bresnahan, 98, passed away on Friday evening, July 27.
Kitty was born April 8, 1920 in Waterbury, daughter of the late John and Bridget (Carroll) Curtin. Raised in Waterbury she attended local schools and was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School. She went on to the University of New Haven where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in business administration and her Masters Degree in labor relations.
Kitty was the director of the human resources department at St. Mary’s Hospital from 1948 until her retirement in 1991. She was a communicant and former member of the parish council at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and was a member of the Connecticut Hospital Association of Personnel.
She leaves her long life friend, Antonio Riberio, who took care of her for almost thirty years and eighteen nieces and nephews, including Ned and Michael whom she had a special love for. She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Catherine Kelly, her sister, Anne (Eckert) Murphy and brothers, John, Henry and Thomas Curtin.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 1, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. Burial will be private.
