Tribute

Waterbury - Duy Ngoc Truong, 30, transitioned from this life into the next, in a tragic accident on Sunday, July 14, 2019 while fishing at Hancock Brook Lake in Terryville. He was the loving son of Toai Kim Truong and the step-son of former State Senator Robert G. Dorr.

Duy was born in Rach Gia, Vietnam, on December 5, 1988 to Toai Kim Truong and Tran Thien My. After the death of his father, he emigrated to the United States in 2000, graduated from Kingsbury School, Westside Middle School, and in the Wilby High School Class of 2008.

An award winning artist, he became a skilled welder after an internship. Duy could create or repair anything. He was employed at Solutions With Innovation, a Magnetrol Corporation subsidiary in Naugatuck, CT. He loved motorcycles, outdoor sports, fishing, being with his friends, and was a proud father of Oliver Saunders, age 1.

Besides his son, Oliver, he leaves to cherish his memory Samantha Saunders, of Waterbury, all of his many classmates, co-workers, several uncles and cousins in Vietnam.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 19, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street, Waterbury. Internment will take place at his birthplace, Rach Gia, Vietnam, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Waterbury Veterans Committee, 1569 Thomaston Avenue, Waterbury, CT 06704.
