Waterbury – Mr. Edward Charles Staskauskas, passed away on Sunday, November 27.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Alice (Comstock) Staskauskas; three children, Annmarie, Diane and David; five grandchildren, Adam, Julie, Nicole, Christina and Kaity; seven great-grandchildren, Anna, Elliott, Nikolas, Jenny, Jocelyn, Liam and Noah; two great-great-grandchildren, Dominic and Giovanni. He is also survived by an older brother, Albert Staskauskas, three nephews, Mark, Everett and Darrell and two nieces, Susan and Barbara. He was predeceased by a sister, Maryann Comstock.
During his 75-year career as an educator he touched thousands of lives working in the Waterbury Public School system, teaching grammar school, high school and adult education.
He was very active in many community organizations. He was passionate about just causes and always ready to help in whatever way he could. Known for his marathon walks around Town Plot and Downtown Waterbury, he also loved photography, music, poetry, nature and fishing and had a soft spot for any stray animal that crossed his path.
With an abiding faith that kept him in good stead, he was a long-time communicant of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. His heart was happiest when he was home surrounded by his loving family. A quiet and humble man, he was a blessing to all who knew him. As with all dear departed souls, the world won’t be the same without him.
