Waterbury – Fay Tajildeen, 91, passed away on Monday, March 4, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the widow of Joseph S. Tajildeen. She was known far and wide as “Aunt Fay.”
Fay is survived by her daughter, Pamela Ann Tajildeen of Waterbury; her sister, Salha Boughanem of Lebanon; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews across Connecticut, New England, Canada, and the Middle East.
Fay was born April 22, 1932, in Baadaran, Lebanon, daughter of the late Said and Hind Tajildeen. She was married in 1949, in Lebanon, and immigrated to Waterbury, CT with her husband, who had established Joe’s Corner (later known as Tajildeen’s Corner), a well-known Waterbury landmark for much of the 20th century. Located on the corner of East Main and Cherry, Fay was much beloved by her friends and neighbors.
After her husband passed away in 1975, Fay worked at National Semiconductor in Danbury and, later on, was a food demos in Costco. Aunt Fay had a generous and giving spirit, always making sure that those around her had what they needed. She was love in action. The frequent host of holiday parties for decades, people would travel for a taste of her roast turkey and famous stuffing. What brought her most joy was having all her family around her. She loved knitting Afghan blankets for everyone, cultivating a flower garden of bright and vibrant colors, and even discovered new artistic passions later in life.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Funeral services will start at 12. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.
