Mr Francis Thomas Zappone

Waterbury – Mr. Francis Thomas Zappone, 80, of Waterbury and Palm Beach, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 25, at the Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Carol A. (Shea) Zappone.

Mr. Zappone was born October 29, 1938 in Waterbury, son of the late Nicholas and Marie (Genova) Zappone. Raised in Waterbury, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Wilby High School. He graduated with his BS in business from Quinnipiac University. He later returned to college and received his Master in Legal Studies Degree from the University of New Haven. In 1963 he founded the Francis T. Zappone Company and operated his company until the time of his death. He received the distinction of Realtor Emeritus after 40 years of service in real estate.

Francis was an active member of the Waterbury YMCA for over 50 years and was an avid downhill skier. He held a second degree black belt in Karate. He had a love of the ocean and was Captain of the “Susan Lynn.”

In addition to his wife Carol, Francis is survived by his two sons, David Francis Zappone and his wife Michele of California and New Jersey and Steven Francis Zappone of Waterbury; his daughter, Susan Lynn Zappone of Boston; his brother, Nicholas Zappone of FL; his very dear aunt, Catherine Granitto and his brother- in-law William Shea of Warren and North Palm Beach, FL. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Zappone.

He also leaves his “Y” running buddies, Gene, Carl, Bernie, Tom, Nick, John and Hank.
