Waterbury - Francisca Rodriguez, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 after a short battle with cancer at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital. She was born on November 30, 1938 in Penuelas, Puerto Rico to the late Francisco Luciano and Rosa Garcia. She is predeceased by her sister Ada Planas and brother Jose Luciano.

She worked at a factory in Waterbury for many years making neckties. She loved spending time with family and friends and particularly enjoyed playing bingo. 

She is survived by a daughter Miriam Higuera of Titusville, FL; son Miguel Arroyo Jr. of Waterbury, CT; son Melquiadez “Pete” Gonzalez Jr. of Waterbury, CT; son Elliot Gonzalez of Waterbury, CT; grandson Fred Lozada of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter Carmen Lozada of Downey, CA; grandson Miguel Lozada of Shirley, MA; grandson Miguel Arroyo III of Waterbury, CT; granddaughter Rosa Arroyo of Waterbury, CT; grandson Elliot Arroyo of Wolcott, CT; grandson Eric Arroyo of Waterbury, CT; granddaughter Noraima Arroyo of Waterbury, CT; grandson Javier Gonzalez of Allentown, PA; granddaughter Niomi Gonzalez of New London, CT; grandson Mikey Gonzalez of Waterbury, CT; granddaughter Emily Gonzalez of Waterbury, CT; grandson Elliot Gonzalez of Waterbury, CT. 

Also surviving are 5 siblings, brother Norman Luciano of Waterbury, CT; sister Gloria Moreno of Waterbury, CT; sister Leyda Quiñones of Waterbury, CT; sister Angela Torres of Waterbury, CT; sister Amilta Planas of Waterbury, CT; God daughters Ita Gonzalez and Yvette Moreno both of Waterbury, CT and a host of devoted great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
