Gail A. Bardwell

Southington – Gail A. (Keyes) Bardwell, 81, passed away on Sunday, October 22, at the Hospital of Central of Connecticut. She was the widow of Otto Bardwell.

Gail was born February 2, 1942, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Henry I. and Alma S. (Stankavich) Keyes. Raised in Waterbury, Gail attended local catholic schools and was a graduate of Wilby High School. While raising her family, Gail put herself though nursing school at Kaynor Tech and then went on to work as an LPN for over twenty years with the majority of that time at St. Mary’s Hospital, where she made lifelong friends. She will be remembered for her love of golf, being an avid gardener, an exceptional artist and an animal lover.

After retirement, Gail and Otto moved to North Carolina to enjoy warmer winters and extend her golf season. She played regularly with her friend Tanya. Gail stayed in NC for a few years after her husband passed, then moved back to CT to be closer to family.

Gail is survived by her children, Rick Tobin and his wife Maryann of Harwinton, Jo-Ann Dupont and her husband Steve of Watertown and Kim Mix and her husband Alex of Wolcott; six grandchildren, Steven, Jr, Jordan, Danielle, Alle, Isabel and Stephanie; her great-granddaughter, Maddelynn; her step children; Linda Bardwell, Josh Bardwell and Rebekah Bardwell and 5 step-grandchildren. She also leaves her beloved cats, Mickey and Paddy O’Brien. Gail was predeceased by her son Jack Tobin, Jr and her sister, Dee Mahar.

Calling hours will be on Saturday morning from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. A prayer service will be at 11:00 A.M. Burial and committal prayers will follow in the Old St. Jospeh’s Cemetery, Waterbury.
