Waterbury – Ilkah Gotay Ferrer (Hernandez) 56, of Waterbury passed away in her home, on the early morning of Sunday, May 17, 2020.

Ilkah was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on June 5, 1963 to parents Gladys Ferrer Gotay and the late Mario Agustin Gotay Lopez. She graduated from Adolfo Grana Rivera High School in Penuelas, P.R. She studied Nursing at the Pontificia Catholic University in Ponce, P.R. She then moved to the United States to further her schooling and become a nurse.

Ilkah worked as a weekend supervising Nurse at Abbott Terrace Nursing Home, she worked as a Home Care Nurse and she taught classes for nursing students. Being a nurse was her passion, she cared for everyone as if they were her family and she would not have changed it for the world.

She enjoyed music, dancing, and family gatherings. She loved joking with everyone and having a good time. Her laugh was contagious and made everyone smile. She was the life of the party. She was a kind person and had a heart of gold. She would not hesitate to help anyone in need.
Ilkah leaves behind one daughter, Jade Hernandez; four sons, Irvinson Morales, Kenneth E. Gotay, John L. Rivera, all of Waterbury, and Josue Quinones of California; five grandkids and several nieces and nephew who she loved dearly; she is also survived by five sisters, Sonia Gotay, Lizbeth Gotay, Lorna Gotay of Waterbury, Dinaseth Gotay of Puerto Rico, and Tirza M. Gotay of Florida; two brothers, Aramis Gotay of Florida, and Elliot Gotay of Puerto Rico. She was predeceased by two brothers, Jesus Waldo Gotay and Mario Gotay Jr.

Ilkah was loved and admired by many and we will continue to celebrate her life. She is gone but never forgotten.
