Waterbury - Jane Keliher Healey, wife of the late Frank T. Healey, Jr., with whom she shared 65 years of marriage, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT, after a brief illness. Born in Waterbury on April 22, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Garceau) Keliher. She was predeceased by her siblings, Frank (Bud) Keliher, Jr., Claire Drown, and John Keliher.
Jane graduated from Crosby High, Class of 1945, and received a BA in Education from The College of St. Elizabeth in 1949. She taught at elementary schools in Waterbury and Washington, CT until her marriage, and later in life enjoyed working at the Silas Bronson Library in Waterbury.
Jane loved reading and staying abreast of politics and current events. She expressed consternation at the unique political and social events of 2020.
Jane enjoyed golfing and was an accomplished cook and hostess. Family holidays and events, lovingly, joyfully, and extravagantly celebrated, will be treasured memories for her family. Her true love was for her late husband Frank, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who treasured her wit and humor, and basked in her love and affection for them.
Jane is survived by nine children, Elizabeth (John) Smith, Susan (Mark) Carrier, Anne Healey, Joan Healey, Mary (Fred) Cadman, Frank T. Healey III, and his wife Beth (Byram) Healey, Martha (Charles) Holden, Barbara (Michael) Plummer, and Kate Healey. She is survived by 19 grandchildren, Suzanne Endruschat, Daniel Smith, Kate Schirdewahn, Michael Smith, Allison Horan, Ashley Goodwin, Mark Carrier, Matthew Carrier, Francis Cadman, Samuel Cadman, Emily Cadman, Frank Healey IV, Adam Healey, Elisabeth Holden Boatwright, Thomas Holden, Sara Holden Searle, Jane Plummer, Abby Plummer, Michael Plummer, and thirteen great-grandchildren, Iggy Dandrade, Maggie Dandrade, Jack Horan, Finn Horan, Bailey Goodwin, Madelyn Goodwin, Ryan Carrier, Haylie Carrier, Ace Smith, Jack Schirdewahn, Alice Schirdewahn, Nora Schirdewahn, and Eleanor Boatwright. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Carol Keliher and Judy Healey, and her beloved cousin, Ruthanne Reibold Moriarty.
The Healey Family is grateful to her physician, Dr. Edmund Quinn, and her caregiver Sherry Kallen, for their compassionate care.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
