Kathleen J. Shanahan

Oakville – Kathleen J. Shanahan, 72, passed away on Thursday, March 24, at the Vitas Innovative Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. 

Kathie was born June 11, 1949 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Harold and Kathleen (Ferris) Shanahan. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Crosby High School. Kathie began her career at Whalen's drugstore. As a check out girl, most people were there to check her out. Not only because she was a knockout but because she always had a smile, a story, a joke, (sometimes colorful) to brighten your day. Many years later friends and regulars began their day with a hot cup of coffee and Kathie's warm smile at the Robinwood Luncheonette. Kathie was a proud friend of Bill W. for nearly 20 years attending meetings with her little dog Sophie and her fresh baked cheesecakes and cookies to share with all.

She is survived by her son, Todd S. Lynch and his wife Christina of Harwinton; her daughter, Molly (Lynch) Heinerich and her husband Larry of Chicago, IL; her three sisters, Judith Petrucci of Watertown, Maryanne Farina of Naugatuck and Margaret (Peggy) Divito of Watertown; five grandchildren, Darien Lynch and her husband Eric Cote, Aidan Lynch, Jaxson Lynch, Lucy Heinerich and Francis Heinerich and many beloved nieces and nephews. 

Please join us in honoring Kathie in a graveside service to be held on Wednesday, March 30 at the New St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waterbury at 11:00 A.M. followed by coffee/and at Cara Bean's sips, eats and sweets from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. .
