Mrs Marion Ward Barlow

February 8, 1923 ~ July 31, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Middlebury – Mrs. Marion (Ward) Barlow, 94, passed away on Monday morning, July 31, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the widow of John H. Barlow, Sr.

Marion was born February 8, 1923 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Thomas and Marie (Malloy) Ward.

Marion, Nan to her family, was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  What she enjoyed most in life was spending time with her family.  As her grandchildren and then her great grandchildren grew up, Nan was always there for every celebration, every game, every recital and all the days in between.  She always had time to lend an ear or some thoughtful advice.  Nan was always happy to play the supporting role, but had the heart and presence of a leading lady.  A life-long resident of Waterbury, she had moved to Middlebury in recent years, to be a short walk away from her son and even more available to the rest of her family.  She was incredibly loved and she will be incredibly missed.

She is survived by her son, John H. Barlow, Jr and his wife, Debbie of Middlebury; her grandchildren, John H. Barlow, III and his husband, Scott, of New York City and Julie McDonald and her husband, Tom, of Middlebury; her great -grandchildren, Annie, Kate and Will McDonald, all of Middlebury; her brother, Thomas Ward and his wife, Betty, of Watertown and several nieces and a nephew. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter and best friend, Mary Jane Barlow and her brother, William Ward.

Arrangements: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5, at 11:00 A.M. at the Middlebury Congregational Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Marion’s name to the Waterbury Police Activity League 64 Division St. Waterbury, CT 06704 or to the Greater Waterbury Campership Fund P.O. Box 2090 Waterbury, CT 06722.
