Waterbury – Mrs. Marjorie (German) Goodson McKennerney, 96, of Waterbury, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Southington Care Center. She was the widow of Wendell F. McKennerney who predeceased her in 2018, and Arthur W. Goodson who predeceased her in 1968.

Marjorie was born on August 17, 1923, in Waterbury, daughter of the late M. Clarence and Florence (Beecher) German. Marjorie attended local school and graduated from Crosby High School; and later graduated from Oklahoma A+M, and Mattatuck Community College. Marjorie served honorably in the U.S. Navy (WAVES) during World War II and was stationed in Washington D.C. at the Bureau of Ships. After her service she worked as a secretary at area businesses and retired as a school secretary for the City of Waterbury. Marjorie was very active in the community, she was a charter member of Women in Military Service to American, past president of the Waterbury Garden Club, Chairman of the Waterbury Women’s Club Evening Department, a former Girl Scout Leader, the First Congregational Church Scholarship Committee, and the Waterbury Art League. She was also a Literacy volunteer and a member of the First Congregational Church in Waterbury.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Leslie G. Salas of Guam, and David A. Goodson of East Hampton, CT; step-children, Kathleen Macher of Uncasville, and Doreen Neel of Live Oak, FL., 11 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. She was predeceased by two sisters, Joyce Peterson, and Doris Upton.

A Funeral Service will be held at a later date at the First Congregational Church of Waterbury, 222 West Main St. Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main. St. Waterbury is assisting the family with arrangements.
