Matthew Virella

Waterbury - Matthew Virella, born November 4th, 1989 in Waterbury CT, passed away Friday, August 28. He was very loved by all family and friends. 

Matthew enjoyed basketball, boxing, and had an artistic hand. He also had a love for music, both listening and creating. He will also be remembered for his amazing sense of humor. Matthews greatest achievement was being a father to his beautiful baby girl. He had a strong religious belief, known to be kind, humble, with the most forgiving heart. He was a son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandson, and friend. 

He leaves behind his father Nicholas Virella of New York; his mother Aracelis Virella of Waterbury; his sister Barbara Virella of New York; his brother Nicholas Virella of Pennsylvania; his brother Peter Albizu and sister in law Oletta Albizu of Florida; sister Tiffany Virella of Waterbury; sister Melanie Cedres and brother in law Rolando Cedres of Torrington; sister Cynthia Virella of Waterbury; and a loving daughter Joalyn Yocelis Virella who he called Bunka. He also left behind 14 nieces and nephews who he considered his own, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Calling Hours are Tuesday, September 1 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main St. Waterbury. Everyone attending must wear a mask. Due to restrictions on gatherings, you are kindly asked to leave after paying your respects. Funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45 am on Wednesday, September 2 for burial in All Saints Cemetery in Waterbury at 11AM.
