Murteza Shira

Waterbury - Murteza Shira, 64 years old of Waterbury, was called to his eternal home on June 9, 2020.

Murteza was born in Veleshta, Macedonia on Aug. 6, 1955.

He is survived by his wife Ferida (Asan) Shira of 46 years; his oldest daughter Dile (Shira) Thompson of Waterbury; his son Muharem Shira of Naugatuck; his daughter-in-law Kimberly Shira of Naugatuck; his youngest daughter Umurzat Shira of Waterbury; his grandchildren Mariah Leila Cruz, Edison A. Marrero Jr., Brooke Shira, Savanna Shira, Lillian Shira; his sister Lutfije Bajram of Waterbury; brother Sabit Shira of Watertown; nephew Naser Shira of Watertown; best friend, Maureen Mahoney; and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Murteza was a musician and played for Grupi Daullet E Veleshtes. He was a man who was the jack-of-all-trades and spoke many languages. Murteza was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many people.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at New Pine Grove Cemetery, 850 Meriden Rd., Waterbury.
