Tribute

Waterbury – Mrs. Patricia “Pat” (Sullivan) Gow, 89, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at home surrounded by family. She was the loving wife of 65 years of Harold “Hank” Gow.

Pat was born on January 25, 1932 in Waterbury, daughter of the late John F. and Frances (Gannon) Sullivan. She graduated from St. Thomas Grammar School in Waterbury and Waterbury Catholic High School, where she received numerous national awards in Latin. Pat then graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing, where she passed her nursing boards with the highest grade in the State of Connecticut. She worked many years at St. Mary’s Hospital until her retirement. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles in ink. Pat & Hank enjoyed cruising the world, having gone on over 25 cruises. She was also a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church for over 75 years.

Besides her husband, Pat is survived by four children, Michael Gow and his wife Colleen of Torrington, Thomas Gow, Cathleen Havican and her husband Jerry, and Eileen Schain and her husband David, all of Waterbury; five grandchildren, David Schain of Nevada, Lisa Schain Higgins and her husband Danie,l and Kevin Schain all of Waterbury, Stephanie Havican Nieves and her husband Christopher of Wallingford, and Melissa Havican and her partner Christopher Saunders of Waterbury; a great grandson Lucas Higgans and another great grandchild to arrive in the spring; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her siblings John “Jack” Sullivan, Elizabeth “BettyAnne” Sullivan and Joan Sullivan O’Neill.

Walk through calling hours will be on Friday, Feb 19, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 E. Main St., Waterbury. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins St. Burial is private. Masks and social distancing are required while in attendance at the wake and funeral.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides from Vitas Hospice at Home for their wonderful care, as well as family friend, Judy Bochicchio, for assisting the family with loving care.
