Patricia C Shanahan R.N of Naugatuck, passed peacefully at home in Wailea, Hawaii with her daughter Patricia and granddaughter Eavann by her side.
Patricia C. Shanahan was the daughter of Nell Broadrick of Naugatuck, CT. She attended St. Francis Grammar School, graduated with high honors from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury and went on to St. Mary’s School of Nursing where she became an R.N. Nurse Pat dedicated her life to caring for pediatric patients whom she loved dearly. After retiring from St. Mary’s Hospital and Pediatric Clinic she continued on working full time at two other pediatric offices through the age of seventy eight. We wish to thank Dr. Khera of Winsted Pediatrics. Patricia was the type of nurse we all wanted; kind, compassionate, intelligent, loving and especially cheerful. She was a devout Catholic, attending mass regularly at The Lords of Litchfield Shrine in CT where she also volunteered for over thirty years. Upon moving to Hawaii, she attended various Catholic masses on four different islands which she enjoyed immensely. Nurse Pat was a seasoned world traveler, Broadway show lover and Disney World enthusiast. A true young at heart SPECIAL lady. Bubble gum chewing, whistling and skipping rope was her specialty and dining out was her passion. Irish music and prayer was her peace. Her grandchildren were her heart.
She leaves behind her daughter Patricia Brooke Shanahan and cherished granddaughter Eavann Brielle Shanahan of Wailea, Hawai’i and equally cherished grandson Daniel Justin of Denver, CO. She was pre deceased by her first born child James Patrick Shanahan of Ft worth , TX and leaves behind her second born son Daniel Luke Shanahan of New England. The company of her many cousin families were lifelong wonderful memories for her. She did not have siblings, but was never an only child. For that we were truly grateful. The care providers of Island Hospice Maui made her final days of life comfortable and full of ALOHA... Exactly what Nurse Patsy deserved.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 23, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home 290 East Main St. Waterbury. A prayer service will be held at 8:00 P.M.
