Ramona Nazario

Waterbury – Ramona (Santo Reyes) Nazario, of Waterbury, passed away on her 86th birthday, Sunday, January 20, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Mr. Juan Nazario Mendez.

Ramona was born on January 20, 1933 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Crescencio Santos Torres and Dolores Reyes Ortiz. Ramona loved cooking, spending time with family, sewing, reading Spanish novels, and praying.

Ramona is survived by her seven children, Oscar Nazario, Luz Neida Nazario with whom she resided, Carmen Torres (Juan Torres), Nelson Nazario (Luz Nazario), Luis Nazario (Elvira Nazario), Juan Nazario (Maria Nazario) and Maria Smith (Anthony Smith); ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many extended family members. She was predeceased by her siblings, Francisco Santos, Juana Santos, and Hilda Santos.

The family would like to thank the VITAS Home Hospice nurses, Dr. Edgar Catala, and Fr. Will Roger Malave for their excellent care.

Family and friend may call on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main St., Waterbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Shrine of St. Anne Church (All Saints - Todos los Santos Parish) 515 S Main St, Waterbury. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
